Carr’s December 6 Prayer Update

Hi, everyone!

It’s been awhile since we’ve written, and now it’s December already! Christmas is in the air, and snow is predicted for this Saturday. (Since we are supposed to fly that day to WA state, we’re praying it won’t amount to much!)

Since we wrote last, we’ve met up with “old” friends, spoken in Sequim and Orting, Washington, and in Elyria, OH. Those times were followed by involvement in a mini-missions conference, which included speaking to a Martial Arts ministry at Eastgate Bible Fellowship in Bellevue, WA. Along the way, we also had the privilege of hosting Paul Shook and Kenji Iwamoto for a day during their month long tour of the U.S. (You may recall Paul is our 95 year old co-worker and father of Becky Petite, with whom we work in Izumi. Paul has been discipling Kenji). We’ve also spoken at our home church to our Adult Bible Fellowship class as well as a small group gathering.

We enjoyed dinner together in our home with the weary travelers.

During the past three weeks, we’ve either been involved in leading, piano playing, or attending FOUR funerals. One was for the father of our co-worker, Susan Smith, and was in Wisconsin. We made the trip up there and were happy to re-connect with the Smith family, though wished it could have been happier circumstances. We continue to pray for comfort for all of these families (plus the families of three others’ whose funerals we attended earlier in our time here in the states.) How much more joyful it was to be involved in the services of those who really loved the Lord, and ones’ whose lives did not reflect His presence. Such events always make us consider what impact we’re having on others around us and how much we want to hear “Well done” from our Savior!

Please PRAY for hearts to be touched with the great need in Japan as we continue to travel and share about the Lord’s working in Japan. Please be in PRAYER concerning the ability to purchase nearby land to use as a parking lot for the church in Izumi. The building the Lord provided for us there is wonderful, but the parking area is woefully inadequate. A piece of property is next to the church, but the owners have not yet made it available to us, even though the Petites have talked to them several times about our interest. PRAY that they will be willing to sell to us–our being Christians may have something to do with their reluctance. Continue to PRAY for the spiritual growth of believers in Japan and for strength and endurance for all of our coworkers. Also continue to PRAY for the McVickers to be able to raise their support and join the Japan team.

Here’s our upcoming travel schedule:
Dec. 10 Grace Baptist, Kennewick, WA
Jan. 14 Grace Baptist, London, OH
Jan. 21 Greetings at Grace Baptist, Cedarville, OH
Jan. 28 Bethany Baptist, Salem, OR

Thank you so much for your faithfulness in praying and supporting the work financially. We pray you have a wonderful season of remembering our dear Savior’s birth and rejoicing in the Hope we have because of Him! Merry Christmas and a Happy, Blessed New Year!

Tom, Paula, Mitchell and Tev; Lindy (at Cedarville University) and Andrew (in Cincinnati)
